FUUAST launches journal of biology

The Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology along with other institutions launches journal of biology on the Topic of "ASSOCIATION OF ASTHMA WITH CARBON MONOXIDE CONCENTRATIONS ON THE ROADS OF KARACHI AND POTENTIAL BLOOD LEVEL OF CARBOXY HAEMOGLOBIN"

This paper aims to investigate carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations on roadways of Karachi, potential blood levels carboxy hemoglobin (COHb) in Karachiites and evaluate its association with asthma prevalence in Landhi and Korangi towns of Karachi city. Geographical information system (GIS) was used for spatial analysis of diseases potentiality while an interpolation technique has been applied for surface generation with town boundaries and later evaluates risk areas. The results depicted that the Union Councils wise estimated carboxy hemoglobin (COHb) levels with mean and maximum values were found in the range of 1.24% to 1.86% and 1.35% to 3.06% respectively. This study shows that the asthma prevalence and carbon monoxide values are strongly correlated, indicating higher the CO levels with higher the Asthma prevalence. The higher concentration of carbon monoxide in the ambient is mainly due to automobile exhaust and industrial emissions, resulting in an increase in asthma, other respiratory and heart related diseases.

FUUAST Englineering, Law & Pharmacy Recognised

KARACHI, Aug 28 The engineering, law and pharmacy faculties of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (Fuuast) have been registered in the academic councils concerned, says a statement issued here on Tuesday. After the registration, the degrees awarded by the faculties would have proper recognition in the job market and the national and international educational institutions, it said. Computer lab inaugurated at FUUAST

KARACHI Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser on Friday inaugurated the state-of-the-art computer laboratory in the Department of Computer Science and Information Science, FUUAST. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony held at the university’s main campus, the FUUAST VC Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser, who is also serving as KU VC, said the research work was considered as an identity of any university. “The FUUAST has established various latest laboratories in many departments during the last four years.
