Karachi, 24 April, 2012 Prof. Dr. Syed Iqbal Alam, chairman of the department of microbiology of Federal Urdu University for Arts, Science and Technology, has retired from his post after serving for 33 years. Mr Alam had been giving his services to the university as a teacher and chairman. He not only wrote articles for national, but also for international magazines. He is the author of five books on microbiology which are considered authentic throughout Pakistan’s universities. Moreover, the professor also translated ‘Bio Ethics’ form English to Urdu which is available on UNESCO’s website. After his retirement, Professor Asif Ali has taken charge as the department’s chairman. Ali is also serving as a Campus Officer. Islamabad Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology Islamabad campus participates in Spring Splash 2012, a week-long festivity comprising several inter-university competitions, organised by Preston University, kicked off in Islamabad on Thursday April 12, 2012, says a press release. First of the series of events that are being held during the festivity, an inter-university sports competition (comprising of T-20 Cricket, Badminton, Table Tennis and Football tournaments) is commencing today at Pakistan Sports Complex and Marghazar Cricket Ground, Saidpur, Islamabad. A two-day Sindhi Conference will be held under the auspices of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) and in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) from April 10. The Vice-Chancellor of FUUAST, Professor Dr Muhammad Qaiser will preside over. KARACHI Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (FUUAST) has published the second edition of its first science journal, ‘FUUAST Journal of Biology,’ announced a press release issued here on Tuesday. The journal includes research articles on different aspects of biological sciences, prepared by faculty and students engaged in research activities related to biological sciences at the university, besides research papers compiled by researchers and scholars from across the globe.
