United States Educational Foundation (USEF), Pakistan has invited applications from Pakistani journalists to be part of the U.S-Pakistan Professional Partnership Program to get professional training of journalism and to interact with the U.S Journalists.
“The program will involve journalists from both countries working together and building real professional relationships as well as the opportunity to learn about media reporting in each other’s country” A USEF announcement said.
It has been known that the program is being run by the International Centre for Journalists (ICFJ), a Washington based organization whose mission is to impart journalism education worldwide. The program is funded by U.S Department of State.
The selected journalists will spend Six weeks in the U. S in the upcoming Summer and will participate in various events, opportunities and will witness the life-style of the host country. The participants will be engaged with various media organizations and learn about new avenues and trends in the field of Journalism.
Pakistani journalists having at least a BA degree and currently working with local or regional media are eligible to apply. A work experience of 3 to 10 years is also one of the pre-requisites of the eligibility criteria. Interested candidates have been asked to submit complete application package latest by February 21, 2012.
The U.S Pakistan Professional Partnership Program started last year and the first group of Pakistani journalists went to the United States in June 2011.Many senior professional journalists were also part of this program then.
