Conference for better Environment

The Greenwich University held a Conference on “Go Green-A Corporate Social Responsibility” here. An spokesman of the institution said on Monday that the one day conference was attended by experts of environmental studies, academia, corporate executives of various organizations and a number of students. Former director general PCSIR, Dr Mirza Arshad Ali Baig said that environmentalism is a broad philosophy and social movement centered on a concern for the conservation and improvement of environment. It refers to individual action that a person can consciously take to curb harmful effects on the environment through consumers habits, behavior and lifestyle, he added. Speaking on the occasion, Head of Department, Environmental Studies, Federal Urdu University Karachi, Dr Arif Zubair said that water resources should be increased to overcome the water scarcity in the country by building dams.He said that the corporate sector should join hands with the environmentalist to search for the ways and means for utilising the resources so that the country should have enough potable water.

Various speakers on the occasion said that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept that stresses that an organization has obligations not just to conduct its business and adhere to legal guidelines, but also to look out for the welfare of the society at large.They said that the role of researchers is central to academia and the corporate world. They also lauded the efforts of Greenwich University to promote research and propose its results to the corporate world in order to improve the standard of living in the world in general and in Pakistan in particular.

FUUAST Englineering, Law & Pharmacy Recognised

KARACHI, Aug 28 The engineering, law and pharmacy faculties of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (Fuuast) have been registered in the academic councils concerned, says a statement issued here on Tuesday. After the registration, the degrees awarded by the faculties would have proper recognition in the job market and the national and international educational institutions, it said.
