SZABIST Declamation Contest: FUUAST secures "Position"

Karachi Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) organized an inter-faculty declamation contest at its premises here. The students of over a dozen government and private sector universities participated in the event. Habib Feroze of the University of Karachi won the first position in the competition. Ms. Saadia Hameed of the Dow University of Health Science remained second. The third position went to Ms. Shahzadi Kanwal of the federal Urdu University. 13 year old Pakistani secures First position in World Mathematics Competition

Islamabad: A 13-year old Pakistan student Moosa Firoz has secured a first position in online World Mathematics Competition held in Australia. According to report, Fairoz, resident of Phalian Punjab, student of Beacon House School System was awarded gold medal in Australia recently. Fairoz secured 4405 points and got the first place while another Pakistani student Hasnain got second position in the competition with 4303 points in 11-13 years age category. In a category of age 14-18 years, the country’s another student named Osama secured second place with 3318 points. About 1.57 million students from all over the world took part in the competition. FUUAST - Student Week

KARACHI Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), is organising students week this week, said a statement issued here on Monday. According to the statement, student week will continue till March 24. The event features many activities, including scatches, Naat Khawani, quiz, plays, comedy shows and others. Computer lab inaugurated at FUUAST

KARACHI Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser on Friday inaugurated the state-of-the-art computer laboratory in the Department of Computer Science and Information Science, FUUAST. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony held at the university’s main campus, the FUUAST VC Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser, who is also serving as KU VC, said the research work was considered as an identity of any university.  “The FUUAST has established various latest laboratories in many departments during the last four years. Department of Computer Science is one of the said departments, where students are engaged in their research work day and night. Pakistan: poor economy, rich country

Pakistan is among the richest countries in the world, but also suffers from a poor economy.  It was January 2008, a relatively cold morning in Dubai. I was walking on Shaikh Zayed Road after parking my car about 300 meters from the meeting point with my client. I stopped suddenly before Crown Plaza upon hearing a Pakistani labourer arguing with a guy, claiming that UAE was not a rich country. I went up to the gentleman and said “Khan Sahab are you crazy? You are standing on Shaikh Zayed Road, the heart of Dubai and you are saying that this country is not rich?” He smiled and responded with a statement that I can never forget. He asked me to ignore all the big buildings, the infrastructure and the trade and then see what the country really had to offer. These days I have been reading articles on the forthcoming budget and Pakistan’s economy. Being an analyst I am also involved in debates on VAT, capital gain tax and other technical issues.
